At the 9th VeggieFair, a new vegan sausage will be presented on the Croatian market, behind which lies a warm and humane story about the desire to make the world a better place. Anita Petrovic, who became vegan primarily because of the animals, but also because of her concern for the environment, volunteered at the animal shelter. The final product was created during the isolation, with the great effort and cooperation of AFC volunteers and the Annapurna manufacturer. The product will be presented at the VeggieFair on Tuesday, June 23, 2020.

06/08/2020 Dutch prohibition of the breeding of dogs with too short muzzles

The Animal Friends Croatia welcomes the decision of the Netherlands to ban breeding the so-called brachycephalic breeds of dogs, namely those with shortened blunt muzzles such as pugs, French and English Bulldogs, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, etc. The decision is in line with Dutch law prohibiting the breeding of animals with physical characteristics that may be harmful to their health. Veterinarians and animal welfare organizations have been warning for decades that dogs, cats and rabbits with shortened muzzles suffer immensely, as confirmed by scientific research. It is frightening that appearance is a priority in breeding, so selective breeding creates animals with extreme physical characteristics that cause them many serious health problems and limitations throughout their lives.
