Subject: Inquiry about the enforcement of mandatory microchipping of dogs

To Whom It May Concern:

We write to you from Animal Friends Croatia to request information about the enforcement of dog microchipping in your area, since the Dog Identification Ordinance mandates that all dogs, regardless of age, must be chipped and the 2013 Amendment to the Animal Protection Act charges municipal services monitoring officers with enforcing the Act.

The control of mandatory microchipping is of the utmost importance in preventing animal abandonment, ensuring the liability of all citizens, preventing animals from getting hurt, and saving money to local communities. Moreover, laws must be applied to all citizens equally.

Therefore, we ask that you supply us with the information on the manner in which you administer the control of mandatory microchipping of dogs in your area, the estimation of the number of chipped and non-chipped dogs, as well as your plans for further enforcement. We thank you in advance for your reply, which can be delivered by mail or at our e-mail.

We would also like to offer our help and cooperation with regards to the proper enforcement of the Animal Protection Act and associated regulations, such as the programs for accommodating, advertising, and rehoming animals, spay/neuter programs, setting up information centers, and citizen education programs.

Respectfully,

Luka Oman
President of Animal Friends Croatia
