Animal Friends announces a new meeting of animal protection associations

- Good examples of animal shelters and a workshop for writing criminal charges

This year's meeting of the Network Against Animal Abandoning is taking place on October 27, 2012 from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. in the Cultural Informative Center (Preradoviceva 5, Zagreb).

The Animal Protection Act, which came into law on January 1, 2007, is still barely implemented in practice. Due to the lack of awarness about the importance of adopting animals, spay/neuter and microchipping programs, and mostly because of not punishing and not levying fines, the number of abandoned animals is growing and therefore the burden to the local communities is even greater. Obligations regulated by the Animal Protection Act are still not fulfilled.

By punishing those that are responsible, providing educational programs for citizens and spay/neuter programs together with adoption and microchipping, would largely help reduce the problem of animal abandonment, thus improving the health, civilizational, and ethical picture of local communities and the society in general.

Precisely because of all these reasons, meetings of the Network Against Animal Abandoning provide information about existing problems and enable discussion between participants about possible solutions.

On the tenth meeting of the Network Against Animal Abandoning there will be talk about ammendments to the Animal Protection Act, with a goal to actively include all associations from Croatia in creating legislation that would respect in their work.

The agenda is:
