09/03/09 Ianua Animal Sanctuary
The campaign "I Love Animals" continues; the sanctuary for abused animals is under construction
After composing the song "No Excuse (Nema isprike)" and opening a humanitarian hotline, received funds are invested into the construction of the first sanctuary for abused animals in Croatia.
The purpose of this construction is fulfilling requirements necessary for the registration of the sanctuary and giving a home to rescued animals who need lifelong care. The sanctuary was named Ianua according to the Roman word door. The intention was to symbolically show the entrance of needed animals into the sanctuary but also the entrance of the people who want to change their attitude and relationship towards other species and give up on their speciesistic way of thinking.
With thanks to all performers of the song "No Excuse" and other collaborators in the campaign "I Love Animals" as well as to the people that donated, Animal Friends announces that the construction of the sanctuary has started and that the sanctuary got its name and bank account to which donations for the continuation of works in the sanctuary can be sent.
Animal Friends continues to urge citizens to help build a special place that will be not only a "safe haven" of assistance to those who cannot help themselves, but will also help to spread the general message of compassion and non-violence.
In addition to donations in money, donations in goods or services are also welcome, and those who wish to donate building materials, tools, paint, polish and anything else that may be of use when building and maintaining the objects, in the farming, as well as in feeding and caring for the animals are most welcome.
The quarantine and one other building are finished and the drinking trough for animals is also reconstructed. Still it is necessary to build a fence and a desinfection barrier so that the Ianua animal sanctuary can apply for registration.
The official web site is also under construction, while the sanctuary Ianua will officialy represent itself to the public on September 18, 2009 on the ZeGeVege Festival of Sustainable Living (www.zegevege.com).
