Animal Friends invites everyone to visit shelters for abandoned animals by Christmas

Animal Friends invites all citizens to visit one of the abandoned animal shelters by Christmas, and to meet one of many abandoned animals that are waiting for their home. Regardless of whether they have the means to adopt them or not, by visiting the shelter they will be able to see the situation that the animals are in and how embarrassing buying an animal is. The act of purchasing an animal not only takes away a chance for an abandoned animal to receive a new home, but it also supports cruel breeding and the merciless trade of live beings. A visit to a shelter also encourages citizens to help solve the problem of rehoming abandoned animals, and help them find a home by Christmas.
Therefore Animal Friends is joining the action "Adopting is Cool" that will take place on November 16, 2013 from 10 A.M. on Trg bana Jelacica, organized by the Shelter for Abandoned Animals of the City of Zagreb in Dumovec and City Office for Agriculture and Forestry. At the info stall, next to the dog corner, people will be able to sign a petition for the complete legal ban on euthanizing abandoned animals, and will receive information about ways to help abandoned animals.
Imagine Christmas without an abandoned animal, with all the abandoned dogs and cats finally in their new homes. By visiting one of the shelters we can take part in this noble goal. Imagine Christmas without one purchased animal, without one living being turned into a product and gift under the Christmas tree. A visit to the shelter can encourage everyone to condemn the animal trade and the act of giving animals as presents. Animals should not be gifts, but a responsible decision made by the whole family.
