March for the Animals gathers animal rights activists from Croatia and its surrounding countries
December 8 at 11 A.M., King Tomislav Square: second March for the animals, smoke torches and a 9 meter long vegan flag
International Animal Rights Day, celebrated on the same day as the International Human Rights Day on December 10, points out the fact that animals, just like people, have their rights that shouldn't be sacrificed or taken away for the possibility of serving humans. Animal rights movement is getting stronger each day, and there's more and more people who think that animals are not some property we should use for food, clothing, amusement or experimenting. This attitude gathers together millions of people around the world on marches, and it will gather many activists from Zagreb, other Croatian cities and surrounding countries on second March for the Animals in Zagreb on Saturday, December 8, 2018.
The procession, starting at 11 A.M. at King Tomislav Square, will be moving through main Zagreb streets: Josip Juraj Strossmayer park, Zrinjevac, Teslina ulica, Masarykova ulica, Frankopanska ulica, Ilica and Ban Jelačić Square, which will be the location of a short program and speeches at 12 P.M. After visiting the Ban Jelačić Square, the procession will continue walking along Jurišićeva ulica, stop at Croatian Nobles Square, and finally head to an after-party at The Beerteja pub located on Pavla Hatza 16.
Using various protest signs and loud slogans, helped out by positive vibrations of drummers from Drum'n'bijes, messages of compassion for all animals will be spread all around Zagreb: for those who suffer in the leather, fur and wool industry, for those who suffer because of human indifference and abandonment while we ourselves made them dependent on us, for those in the food industry and those oppressed because of human entertainment.
Organizers, Animal Friends Croatia and Victories organizations, welcome all animal lovers and invite them to join the procession in as large number as possible, at the compassionate side of history: „In the past, humans have marched against racism and for the rights of women, and today we march louder and more strongly for the rights of animals. On Saturday, we will serve as a voice of all animals because we believe that every living being has a right to live without pain and suffering. Animal rights movement is not just a philosophy of a few individuals, it is a social movement that progressively changes the deep-rooted traditional stances about animals existing only for the human needs. When we speak about pain, love, joy, loneliness and fear, we are no different than animals. They value their lives in an equal way and will fight for it until the last moment. Beneath their skin, hair, feather or shell, every heart feels. With a famous phrase that had become a symbol of animal rights movement: 'In a world where you can be everything, choose being compassionate.', we invite all people to join us on Saturday and celebrate the International Animal Rights Day in a most honorable manner.“
