Warm-up for the 4th March for Animals at Animal Friends Croatia offices
- Friday, April 5, 2024, 5 pm, Jurišićeva 25, Zagreb: making banners and socializing
On Friday, April 5, at 5 pm, a social and a workshop will be held at the Animal Friends Croatia offices (Jurišićeva 25, Zagreb) to prepare banners for the forthcoming 4th March for Animals on April 13 when a crowd of participants is expected to proudly display messages on their banners explaining why they are marching in the Zagreb city center and what kind of world they wish for animals.
Animal Friends Croatia is inviting everyone to join the workshop: “If you want to quote Nikola Tesla, Albert Einstein, or Morrissey, or you have your message of compassion for animals, come and join us. Drop by if you want to know more about the aims of the March and what you can expect if you participate. You will find ready-made materials and paints, and some display suggestions since many of the reasons behind the event have already been publicized. Everyone is welcome: whether you are skilful or not – there will be a variety of jobs that need to be done in preparation for the loud procession in a week.”
March for Animals, organised by Animal Friends Croatia and Pobjeda group on April 13, is setting off at 11am with a gathering at Kralj Tomislav Square in Zagreb. The aim is to create a society which respects animal rights and acts towards reducing their suffering and abuse. The participants will raise awareness on how humans can live in harmony with other species and how they can advocate for their rights and welfare. There are many reasons to participate, and anyone can think of their own.
Animal Friends Croatia states: “Our relationship with animals is a reflection of human callousness. Although we do not depend in any way on animal exploitation and killing, we do it every day, and our victims count in billions every year. We use them for fun in fights, circuses, or zoos, and we sell them as if they were objects and not beings having their own needs. We skin them for fur and leather although we have more humane means of apparel manufacture. We subject them to testing although such tests have been proven as unreliable. We keep them in inhumane conditions and mistreat and kill them daily in food industry. We are calling all to stand by those whose basic rights have been denied, join like-minded people, and become part of a growing movement for non-violence and justice! We must not keep silent on animal suffering but work towards ending it.”
It is expected participants will join in from various parts of Croatia, and to facilitate it, we organized bus transportation from Osijek, Đakovo and Slavonski Brod. All interested parties from these regions can join in by filling in this form.
