Terrified elephants will be herded into groups with helicopters while gunmen on the ground and in the air open fire. Elephants are capable of communicating over long distances, and their death screams will be heard by other elephants who are more than a mile away. Led by Fred Gage of the Salk Institute in San Diego, the researchers created the mice by injecting about 100,000 human embryonic stem cells per mouse into the brains of 14-day-old rodent embryos. Those mice were each born with about 0.1 percent of human cells in each of their heads, a trace amount that doesn't remotely come close to "humanizing" the rodents.

'We think it is a very promising initiative,' said Marlou Heinen from the Eurogroup for Animal Welfare, an umbrella group for some 19 animal welfare organizations.
