Animal Friends Croatia invites to events for World Animal Protection Day
- Saturday, October 5, 2024, from 10 AM to 6 PM: time dedicated to animals and their protection
On Saturday, October 5, 2024, from 10 AM to 6 PM at Zagreb's European Square, organized by the City of Zagreb and the City Office for Economy, Environmental Sustainability and Strategic Planning, an event will be held to mark World Animal Protection Day. On this occasion, Animal Friends Croatia invites citizens to join the celebration of animal protection.
As part of the event, associations that deal with animal protection, care for animals and promote adoption will present their work and wards, and interested visitors will be able to learn about all the ways they can help animals. A dining area with benches and umbrellas will be available at the European Square so that visitors can enjoy delicious food and spend time socializing with representatives of associations and animals. There will be a selection of pumpkin and zucchini dishes, falafel, fried sweet potatoes, burgers, apple strudel with vanilla, chocolate cakes, refreshing drinks, etc.
Animals from the Shelter for abandoned animals of the City of Zagreb will be looking for their home accompanied by volunteers walking them around the event area, while the youngest animals will be in a designated area waiting for cuddles. Visitors will receive educational materials, and they will be informed about the advantages of adopting animals instead of buying them. There will also be a focus on the importance of microchipping dogs and the neutering of dogs and cats as essential support for animals.
Citizens will be able to learn how to care properly for a cat or dog, how to volunteer at a shelter or one of the associations, why adoption contracts are signed, and what needs to be considered before making a decision about caring for an animal and how to report animal neglect. They will also have a chance to learn more about wild animals and their habitats and how they can help domestic animals. Petitions will be available for signing, including one to ban the practice of chaining dogs.
There are many ways to take an active stand for animals and World Animal Protection Day can can inspire everyone to do as much as possible for animals every day of the year. Animal Friends Croatia invites everyone to be part of the celebration of this important international day in order to promote animal protection together at the European Square in a positive atmosphere.
