09/22/07 The Project "Socialize to Find a Home" has been Finalized
After three months of dog training the project "Socialize to Find a Home" has been finalized
For the past three months five dogs from the City Shelter for Abandoned Animals Dumovec went through and successfully finished a course of dog socialization and basically learned to conform. During the course the dogs learned to walk on a leash, stop before crossing the road, and basic orders such as: No, Sit Down, Lay Down, Wait or Come Here and how to behave inside the living space.
The goal of this project was to encourage people to adopt older dogs and to educate about the advantages and necessity of providing homes to abandoned animals. During the project two dogs were adopted (Ara and Zuco) while three dogs (Tula, Berta and Amon) still wait for their adopters.
Therefore on Saturday, September 22, 2007, at 11 A.M., at the info stall of Animal Friends, the dogs Tula, Berta and Amon will mark the ending of the project and will invite passers-by to adopt them.
The info stall will be set at the corner of Varsavska ulica and Petar Preradovic Square. The project manager Agneza Lesdedaj and the assistant trainer Jelena Seric will also be present at the stall and will provide information about the project and their trained but still not adopted dogs.
TULA – Labrador mix breed, born on July 4, 2006; in the dog shelter since October 3, 2006. Tula has been in the shelter ever since she was puppy and she made the greatest and fastest progress of all. She is very active and needs long walks.
BERTA – middle sized Terrier mix breed, born on October 28, 2006; in the shelter since April 24, 2007. Berta is calm-natured, motivated to work and companionable. She is a well behaved dog, doesn't bark excessively and is very cuddly. She loves to play with other dogs. She is middle-sized.
AMON – Dalmatian, born on July 15, 2005; in the shelter since December 22, 2006. Amon is a beautiful dog with one blue eye and one brown eye. Extremely nice and clever, but he doesn't like trainings. He's looking for an adopter with enough energy for his jolliness.
Animal Friends hopes these three virtuous dogs will attract potential adopters and asks for support and help in finding homes for these dogs.
