10/04/24 Check Out the Mobile Exhibition "For Animals"!
On World Animal Protection Day, an interactive truck with educational multimedia content has arrived in Croatia
- Zagreb, Bakačeva and Cesarčeva intersection, October 4 and 5, from 9 AM to 7 PM: an educational attraction as part of a European tour
Today, on World Animal Protection Day, the mobile exhibition "For Animals" - European Tour 2024, which travels through major European cities and shows the everyday life of animals on industrial farms, arrived in Zagreb. The truck, especially visually and functionally adapted, makes an engaging mobile exhibition, and its interior is equipped with multimedia content. Visitors are welcomed by members of the Swedish organization Project 1882 and volunteers from Friends of Animals today and tomorrow, October 4 and 5, 2024, from 9 AM to 7 PM, at the intersection of Tome Bakača and Augusta Cesarca Streets.
"We invite people to step inside the truck, experience virtual reality, watch videos in Croatian, and get a firsthand look at how animals live in Europe. Visitors can also take a quiz and sign a petition urging the European Commission to prioritize animal welfare: www.project1882.org/keep-your-promises, and thus directly help animals. Don’t miss this unique educational mobile exhibition – entry is free!" say Animal Friends Croatia. They note that visitors have been deeply affected by the unimaginable conditions animals face on farms, crowded in cages or chained, unable even to spread their wings.
"The way we treat animals is one of the major existential issues of our time. With our tour across Europe, as Sweden's leading animal rights and welfare organization, it is crucial for us to bring this issue to the public and reveal the reality animals face in Europe," says Benny Andersson, CEO of Project 1882.
Animal Friends Croatia add: "Croatia does not differ from other European countries in the way animals are kept and raised- In the Raša port, after a journey of several hours, the animals are loaded onto ships and transported to the Middle East, where they are slaughtered without stunning. The most effective way for us as individuals to help animals raised for food is to choose plant-based products and meals."
The interactive truck has already visited Helsinki, Warsaw, Berlin, Prague, Bratislava, Ljubljana, Budapest, and many other cities. After Zagreb, the mobile exhibition will continue on its tour.
Besides today, the "For Animals" exhibition will also be open tomorrow, October 5, 2024, alongside an event organized by the City of Zagreb in honour of World Animal Protection Day at European Square, from 10 AM to 6 PM. Animal protection organizations will show their work as part of the celebration. European Square will also feature a vegetarian corner with a restaurant, benches, and umbrellas, where visitors can enjoy delicious dishes such as a popular plant-based burger made from pea protein, various pumpkin and zucchini dishes, falafel, fried sweet potatoes, apple strudel with vanilla, chocolate cakes, as well as refreshing beverages.
World Animal Protection Day is celebrated all over the world on October 4, in honour of Saint Francis of Assisi, a patron saint of animals and vegetarians. It has been celebrated since 1925 inspired by German writer Heinrich Zimmermann, when more than 5,000 people showed up in honour of animal rights almost a hundred years ago. It soon grew into an event dedicated to all animals and as an incentive for people to think about how they treat animals.
This year has so far been marked by the entry into force of the legal provision according to which the abandonment of animals is a criminal offense, the prevention of abuse of horses in horse racing, the rescue of dogs used for fighting and many other cases and efforts for better animal protection.
