Every ZeGeVege festival is the central annual event in the Republic of Croatia regarding the sustainable living, ethics of diet and enviromental concerns. 10th ZeGeVege festival is even more special due to it's tradition, good reputation and more than 250 000 visitors!
This years jubilee ZeGeVege will offer, to it's foreign and domestic visitors, a multitude of information about the biggest and fastest growing trend in the world - veganism! Sustainable living is a way of life in which enviroment, animal lives and well-being of humans are not harmed while natural resources are being used.
ZeGeVege festival is of educational character, organised on a non-profit base by Animal Friends association, and is part of the international festival Veganmania. The whole Ban Jelačić square will be covered by more than a hundered exhibitors, seven restaurants and pizzerias, a tent with lectures and workshops and a stage with daily dance program, preformed by international guests.
Alongside the popular vegan food such as the delicacies from the african continent, vegan pizzas, burgers, goulash, pasta, noodles, raw cakes and ice creams, Mexican and raw chocolate, fresh fruit and vegetables, visitors will be able to refresh themselves with vegan beer or coffee with plant milk. For a even better atmosphere theres will be ten trees for ten years of ZeGeVege.
Numerous lectures will atract all those who wish to overcome prejudices about veganism, learn about animals were saved from farms, vegan diet for children and athletes, or about veganism and sex. On workshops you will be able to learn how to prepare vegan Schneenockerln, mayonnaise, scrambled "eggs" or herbal milk and home-made vegan pate. Visitors will also find: make-up session with vegan cosmetics, a prize game and a foldable electric bicycle. All visitors will receive a bilingual ZeGeVege brochure with recepies, vegan worldwide trends and other useful or interesting information.
Veganism is a worldwide trend with explosive growth and it is especially delightful to see that number of vegans and vegan options in Croatia is in the ever increasing rise. ZeGeVege festival shows to a small extent what is hapening across the state. A part of the progress can be seen in the numerous supports and sponsorships given to ZeGeVege by the President of the Republic of Croatia - Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, Mayor of Zagreb city - Milan Bandić, Croatian Parliament - Office of the President of Parliament, Croatian Parliament - Committee for Protection of Environment and Nature, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Protection of Environment and Energetics, City Office for Agriculture and Forestry, Institute of Public Health "Dr. Andrija Stampar".
The Minister of Agriculture Tomislav Tolusic will visit the ZeGeVege Festival, and by their presence Zvonimir Sostar from the Zagreb Health Office and Emil Tuk from the Zagreb City’s Office for Agriculture and Forestry will show their support.
